The construction works for the first phase of the two-lane Paphos-Polis Chrysochous road are in full progress.
This section is considered technically particularly difficult since the construction of two tunnels of about one kilometer and five viaducts with a total length of 1,500 meters is foreseen. The cost of the first phase, executed by a Greek company, will exceed €86 million and is expected to be completed at the end of 2024. Due to the uphill gradient, additional traffic lanes will be constructed along a long length of the road and in the future it is planned that the road will be upgraded to a four-lane motorway.
In total, the motorway will be 31 km long. For the second phase from Stroumbi to Polis there is already a preliminary study and the competent Departments are gradually proceeding with the maturation of the process.
