SYMPHONIC REBETILKO by Yiannis Belonis

The Limassol Municipality Symphony Orchestra under the baton of conductor Francis Guy presents, as part of the Cycle of Events at the Pattichion Theatre, "Great Greek Creators" the well-travelled "Symphonic Rebetiko" by Yiannis Belonis.
"Symphonic Rebetiko" by Yannis Belonis is the first complete attempt at symphonic processing of this repertoire, including songs by its most important representatives. Starting its journey in 2019, "Symphonic Rebetiko" has travelled a memorable course, "winning" the enthusiastic reception of the public and the rave comments of the press in Greece and abroad, contributing to the dissemination and promotion of our cultural heritage.
The musicologist and orchestrator Yiannis Belonis, after his many years of collaboration with various symphony orchestras in Greece and abroad, undertook to "transfer" rebetiko, which is undoubtedly an integral part of Greek folk tradition with indelible "fingerprints" on the socio-cultural fermentation of the place, in the large concert halls. His companions are the Yellow Bikes, Betty Harlafti and Spyros Kleissas, who with their fresh, but at the same time faithful to tradition, interpretation, give new life to the songs, transferring their deeper meaning to the next generations.
