The promoted specialization of the tourist product of Pafos and the promotion of thematic units of interest to specific categories of tourists, now cover the field of underwater archaeology.
In this context, Pafos hosted in July a European conference for the creation of an educational platform on maritime archaeology.
This project aims to enhance underwater archaeology to become an innovative tool for the development of sustainable and creative tourism. At the same time, it is expected to contribute to the emergence of international best practices and to stimulate underwater archaeological sites through responsible and sustainable approaches.
The tourist authorities of the province anticipate that in the coming years underwater archaeology can be another important element in differentiating the destination of Pafos, since there are various points of underwater archaeological interest in the province that can be explored, developed and further promoted.
