At the Rizoelia roundabout, on Tuesday 10/10/2023, between the hours of 20:30 in the evening and 05:30 in the morning of the following day, periodic road maintenance work will be carried out. All entrances/exits to and from the roundabout will be cut off. During the work on the above section, all road sections connected to it will be completely closed except traffic from Ayia Napa to Larnaca Airport and vice versa, which will continue to operate without interruption. Traffic from Ayia Napa to Nicosia will be channelled through the exit to Aradippou, from which traffic from Larnaca to Nicosia will also be served. Traffic heading from Nicosia to Larnaca or Nicosia to Larnaca Airport will be routed through the Athienou-Avdellero exit. Appropriate traffic signals will be placed at all diversions to guide and facilitate traffic.
In the period between 2/10/2023 – 30/11/2023, every day except weekends, between the hours of 08:30 – 14:30, on the highways Larnaca – Kofinou and Larnaca – Rizoelia Airport, in both directions, pruning works will be carried out and watering trees on the side of the road, by the Forestry Department. During the works, the motorway shoulder will be partially closed, 300 meters long at a time, without lane closures. Between the dates 2/10/2023 – 19/10/2023, every day, Monday to Thursday, between the hours 08:30 – 15:30, on the following highways of the Larnaca District, watering works will be carried out for the plants of the central islands, from the Department of Forestry: (a) on the Larnaca – Kofinou highway, heading towards Kofinou, (b) on the Larnaca – Nicosia highway, from the Rizoelia roundabout to Nicosia, and (c) on the Paralimni – Larnaca highway, from the Rizoelia roundabout to Larnaca Airport During the execution of the works, the tangential traffic lane of the central island will be partially closed, for a length of 1500m. approximately, each time and traffic will be diverted to the adjacent lane. Between 9/9/2023 – 15/10/2023, between the hours of 07:00 – 18:00, on the Nicosia-Limassol highway (A1) beyond the Zygio interchange and the Choirokotia-Kalavasos interchange as well as on the Nicosia-Larnaca highway ( A2) by the Lymbia junction, a private company will carry out topographic mapping of the junctions. The topographic works will be carried out on the shoulder of the highway without any impact on traffic. On the Limassol-Paphos highway, by the Paramali Interchange, in the period 18/9/2023 – 27/10/2023, excluding weekends, between the hours of 09:00 – 17:00, vegetation removal work will be carried out on the elevated central island of the highway by a private contractor. During the works, the right lanes of traffic will be closed in both directions of the highway for a length of 1000m. and traffic will be diverted to the right lanes. On the Limassol-Paphos highway, the left lane in the direction of Limassol after the new exit towards the new Limassol Stadium will continue to remain closed until 16/10/2023, as part of the construction of the new road network in the area of the New Limassol Stadium. On the Nicosia-Limassol highway, in the period 18/9/2023 – 12/10/2023, between the hours of 21:00 in the evening and 06:00 in the morning of the following day, excluding Fridays and weekends, work will be carried out to replace reflective nails and road safety barriers. During the works, one traffic lane will be partially closed in one direction only for a length of 1000m. approximately and traffic will be diverted to the other lane. On the Nicosia-Limassol highway, on the central island, in the Skarinos - Muttayakas section, on Tuesday 10/10/2023, between the hours of 20:00 in the evening and 06:00 in the morning of the following day, waste collection operations will be carried out by a private company . During the works, the right traffic lane of the road heading towards Limassol will be partially closed for a length of 500m. approximately and traffic will be diverted to the adjacent lane. On the Nicosia-Larnaka highway, from Monday 9/10/2023 until Thursday 19/10/2023, excluding Fridays and weekends, between the hours of 09:00 - 15:00, from the junction with the Nicosia - Limassol highway until the Lymbia junction, watering of the plants of the central islets will be carried out by the Department of Forestry. During the works, the tangential traffic lane of the central island will be partially closed, for a length of 1500m. about every time and traffic will be diverted to the adjacent lane. In the wider area of Larnaca and Famagusta from Wednesday 06/09/2023 and for a period of approximately 4 months, there will be works by a private company to replace obsolete signalling equipment at 33 light-controlled intersections and 12 Pelican-type pedestrian crossings, with a new type of low consumption (Extra Low Voltage-ELV) with LED lamps, Pedestrian Countdown system and touch-type demand system for pedestrians. The equipment replacement work at each point will be completed within one day, unless unforeseen, and during the work the light-controlled intersections and pedestrian crossings will remain out of service unless it is deemed necessary to install temporary traffic lights. At the above intersections, preceded by civil engineering works for the infrastructure. In Nicosia, on Nikis avenue, from 15:00 in the afternoon of Saturday 14/10/2023 until 18:00 in the evening of Sunday 15/10/2023, at the height of Riga Feraio and 25th Marti streets and for a distance of 50 meters, construction works will be carried out on the storm drain and the sewage pipeline of the SAL. During the works, the left lane will be locally closed for approximately 50 meters and traffic will be diverted to the other lane. In Strovolos, on Strovolos Avenue, on Tuesday 10/10/2023 until Wednesday 11/10/2023, between the hours of 09:00-12:45, maintenance work will be carried out on the greenery of the central islands, by the Municipality of Strovolos. During the works, the tangential traffic lane of the central island in the direction from Nicosia to Strovolos, for a length of 100m, will be partially closed. – 200 m. about every time and traffic will be diverted to the adjacent lane. Also in Strovolos, in parts of Kalamon, Limassol (old street), and Nikos Papaminas avenues, from Monday 16/10/2023 until Wednesday 25/10/2023, excluding weekends, between the hours of 09:00 – 17:00: 00, maintenance work will be carried out on the greenery of the central islets, by the Municipality of Strovolos. During the works, the tangential traffic lane of the central island will be partially closed in both directions for a length of 100-200m. approximately, each time and traffic will be diverted to the adjacent lane. In Engomi, on Sunday 15/10/2023, between the hours of 06:00 – 16:00, cable pulling works will be carried out on Griva Digeni Avenue, from the junction with 25th March Street to the junction with 28th October Street, with towards the "Kolokasidi" roundabout. During the works, the left lane will be closed for approximately 1000 meters and traffic will be diverted to the other lane. In Lakatamia, works will be carried out on Tseriou Avenue and Strovolou Street, from Spyrou Kyprianou Avenue to Pefkou Street, from Friday 12/5/2023 and for a period of 20 months, as part of the improvement/construction of Ippokratous, Argyroupoleos, and Department Avenues of Tseriou Avenue and Strovolou Street. At the same time, during the same period, as part of the reconstruction of Hippocrates Avenue, Themistokleous Street and Areos Avenue will be closed from their junction with Themistokleous Street to Nikias Street and Kentaurou Street respectively. In the province of Nicosia, at the Tseri bypass (Halepiano road), from Saturday May 6, 2023, from 7.00 in the morning and for a period of six (6) months, works will be carried out at the junction with the road under construction that will join the Perimetriko Motorway. The traffic lanes will be moved slightly south for a period of 3 months and then further north for another 3 months. In Tseri, Nicosia province, from September 1, 2022, works will be carried out on the Road within Tseri, which will last 78 weeks and is expected to be completed by February 28, 2024. Works will be carried out within the Municipality of Tseri to upgrade the main road that passes through the Municipality. More specifically, the works will include the construction of a two-lane road (with additional clockwise lanes at the traffic lights) within the Municipality of Tseri for a length of approximately 2.5 kilometers. It also includes the construction of sections of bypass roads (K. Misiaulis, Salaminas, T. Anthia, S. Papalazarou, etc.), in a total area of approximately 600 meters, which contribute to the main road. In the project, a small roundabout will be built connecting Strovolos and Agios Georgios streets at its northern end. Along the road, parking spaces will be created on both sides to serve the commercial areas of the Municipality as well as the two Primary Schools included in the project. The project also includes the construction of sidewalks, the installation of traffic lights, the undergrounding of all utilities, horizontal and vertical signage, the installation of new street lighting and other related works. Depending on each phase of the work, the relevant announcements will be issued that will describe the work to be carried out as well as the corresponding traffic regulations. Also in Tseri, on Saturday 14/10/2023, at 06:00 in the morning, as part of the construction of the Nicosia Ring Road Phase A1, traffic on Tseri Avenue from Tseri to Strovolos and vice versa will be carried out seamlessly through the new roundabout despite the ready-mix concrete production plant of the GGS Company. In Alhambra, at the Alhambra intersection with the Limassol - Nicosia highway, from Monday 9/10/2023 until Friday 13/10/2023, water pipeline installation work will be carried out by the Water Development Department. During the works, the entrance from the Alhambra to the Nicosia-bound highway will be closed and traffic to Nicosia will be diverted from the Agia Varvara Interchange via the old Nicosia-Limassol road. In the province of Larnaca, as part of the construction works of the "Improvement of the Larnaca - Dekelia Coastal Road Phase C" Project, works will be carried out on the Larnaca - Dekelia coastal road despite the Larnaca Marine Club in both directions, from September 8, 2023 until 10 December 2023. The road will be closed from the Larnaca Maritime Club roundabout to the height of Dramas Street in Livadia. Traffic will be diverted to Navarinou Street through the Larnaca Maritime Club roundabout and Michalaki Karaoli, Ellados, Navarinou and Drama streets in the Municipality of Livadia. Part of Navarinou Street as well as the entire Drama Street will be one-way. Drivers are urged to use caution. Also in the province of Larnaca, on Friday 19/05/2023, the reconstruction works of the Ormidia - Xylofago road will begin, which will last for approximately 12 months, until the end of May 2024. The Project is an improvement of a part of the existing road that connects the community Ormideia with the old Larnaca - Dekelia - Famagusta road. The section of the existing road that is being improved begins immediately after the exit from the residential area (near the junction with Menelaou Ludemi Street) and ends at the junction with the old road Larnaca – Dekelia – Famagusta. Also in the province of Larnaca, as part of the construction works of the "Improvement of the Ormideia - Xylofagos Road" Project, from August 28, 2023 until July 17, 2024, work will be carried out on Anexartisias Street. The road will be closed to traffic in both directions, from the junction with Menelaou Ludemi Street to the junction with the old Larnaca-Dekelia-Ammochosto road. During the works, traffic will be diverted to an existing parallel road (old Larnaca-Dekelia-Ammochosto road). The movement of vehicles and pedestrians on adjacent roads and properties will be done according to the corresponding local arrangements. In the district of Paphos, the road Aspro Potamos (boundaries of the State Forest) - Toxeutras in the Akamas National Forest Park is still closed, due to improvement works on the road network. The public, to avoid inconvenience but also for safety reasons, is invited to avoid using the road in question and to use the roads that lead from the communities of Inia, Arodon and Kathika to the Park. In particular, those who will visit Lara should use the "Inia-Lara" road and those who will visit Avakas the "Pano Arodes-Avakas" road. Land owners, farmers, breeders and other professionals operating in the area can use the "Pegia-Osia Matrona-Avakas" road. On the Nicosia-Troodos road, from Tuesday 6/6/2023 and for a period of approximately 6 months, as part of the construction of the Astromeritis-Evrycho highway, retaining wall construction will be carried out along the Nicosia-Troodos highway in the Koutrafa Community, in the Koronia area. Traffic on the Nicosia – Troodos highway will be conducted through a bypass road parallel to the existing road. In the district of Limassol, in a part of Olymbou street in Platres, during the period 18/9/2023 – 10/11/2023, between the hours 07:00 – 15:30, construction works of a retaining wall and a rainwater channel will be carried out by a private contractor Company. During the work, the following arrangements will apply. In the period 3/10/2023 - 10/11/2023, one of the traffic lanes of Olympou Street will be closed for a length of 120m. approximately and traffic will be diverted to the adjacent lane, with alternating traffic management with temporary traffic lights. Also in the district of Limassol, on a section of the road Limassol - Agros, by the village of Gerasa, in the period 18/9/2023 - 12/12/2023, between the hours 07:00 - 15:30, construction works of retaining walls will be carried out and excavation of slopes by a private Contracting Company. During the above period, one of the two traffic lanes of the road will be closed for a length of 120m. approximately and traffic will be diverted to the adjacent lane, with alternating traffic management with temporary traffic lights.
On the Malias-Arsos road, also in the province of Limassol, during the period 30/8/2023 – 20/10/2023, between the hours of 07:00-16:00, a private company will carry out the construction of retaining walls. During the works, one traffic lane will be closed for a length of 100m. approximately and traffic will be diverted to the adjacent lane using temporary traffic lights.
As part of the construction works of Phase 1 of the Road Network of the Vassilikos Energy Center, in Mari, from March 23, 2023, on the road between the EAC substation and the Vassilikos River in Mari, north of the cement plant facilities, system construction works will be carried out sewage system and one lane will be closed to traffic. Traffic will be regulated with traffic lights. The movement of vehicles and pedestrians, on adjacent roads and residences will be done according to the corresponding local arrangements.
On the old Nicosia-Limassol road, in the period 3/10/2023 – 12/10/2023, every day except Sunday, between the hours of 06:00 – 18:00, water supply pipeline installation works will be carried out by the Water Development Department. During the above period, part of the old road will be partially closed, from its junction with the Kornos - Delikipos road, in the direction of Limassol, approximately 100 meters each time and a total length of 200 meters, and traffic will be with the use of traffic and Police lights.
