A disturbance was caused last night in the center of Limassol by a firecracker explosion that occurred in the courtyard of a house belonging to a 26-year-old.

According to police, the explosion occurred shortly after eleven o'clock in the evening. The assailants placed and detonated the firecracker in the yard of the residence of its 26-year-old owner, causing minor damage.

Members of the police rushed to the scene and cordoned off the scene. The investigations of the members of the service are directed in specific directions as the complainant is in custody in connection with a drug case.

The arrest of a 68-year-old person was carried out by members of the Cybercrime Prosecution Branch after assessing information and evidence that a specific user of an account on a file-sharing platform acquired and possessed child sexual abuse material.

Specifically, yesterday morning, members of the Cybercrime Prosecution Branch and the Forensic Electronic Data Laboratory, conducted a search based on a court warrant at the premises where the 68-year-old works in the Famagusta district, where two laptops, a mobile phone and seven hard drives were located and received for further scientific examinations.

The Cybercrime Division continues its examinations.

A fight between two persons took place on Sunday morning in the Limassol district.

According to information, the incident took place in the Agia Zoni area, shortly before 10:00 am on Saturday between two Africans.

Both were injured in the fight, with one being taken to hospital.

Police are investigating the new incident.

Incidents between foreigners took place at dawn on Sunday in Nicosia.

Those involved in the fight reportedly threw objects outside a nightclub in Nicosia causing damage.

Members of the police immediately rushed to the scene, where they used tear gas to disperse the mob.

The people, who were in the premises as soon as they noticed the Police, started throwing bottles at the members of the Force, as a result of which reinforcements were called.

After the incidents, two people were arrested.

A fierce fight took place at 02:00 in the morning on Sunday, outside a beer garden in Dali.

According to police, six people were involved in the fight, with three of them injured and taken to hospital. Two of the injured were discharged, while the third was detained for further treatment.

Members of the Police went to the scene for investigations.

A 54-year-old woman was arrested after she was reported to have scammed a lady for almost €20,000 by claiming she was the Nicosia general hospital chief, police said on Sunday.

Nicosia police arrested her on Saturday after the other lady said she received a phone call saying her daughter was in urgent need of medical care.

The scammer, who presented herself as the Nicosia general hospital chief, said money was needed urgently as the woman’s daughter had been injured and needed surgery.

During police’s investigation, the believed scammer’s home was searched and €1,900 was found in cash and €18,000 of jewellery.
