296 victims of trafficking received personalized support in the last two years from the Social Welfare Services (SWS), while 34 victims were hosted in a protection shelter.
Specifically, SWS supported 147 cases during 2022 and 149 cases during 2023 to date. The shelter hosted 2022 victims in 20, while this year 14.
At the same time, as of October 2, the Trafficking in Persons Management Unit became operational in order to provide assistance, support and incentives to victims residing in the state shelter, within the framework of the 2021-2027 programming period of the Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund.
These were mentioned at a press conference of the Deputy Ministry of Social Welfare, on the "program of social reintegration and rehabilitation of victims of trafficking in the community", which took place in view of the European Day against Trafficking in Persons.
