An attack on the SHSO was launched by the six trade unions, which represent workers in public hospitals. They announced strike measures and denounced the organization for a "dismissive attitude towards staff" regarding the issue of collective agreements.
SEK, PEO, DEOK, PASIKI, PASYDY and PASYNO in a joint statement state that the SHSO demonstrates "obstruction and delaying policy, while it appears inconsistent in its commitments from time to time both to workers' representatives and to the competent state officials".
They recall that "in January 2023, a technical committee consisting of representatives of the SHSO and all trade unions was set up to examine the issue of employees' salary advancement. The SHSO management once again refuses to discuss the findings of the technical committee and carefully avoids taking a position on the question of principle whether it accepts the conclusion of a collective agreement compatible with the terms of employment in the public and wider public sector".
The unions have decided to take strike action on October 25, 2023. "To this end, joint local general assemblies will be launched of all their members working in the state hospitals and headquarters of the organization, i.e. employees under an SHSO contract, seconded civil servants, seconded permanent employees and hourly paid staff, with the aim of informing and determining the extent of strike action."
