Five private security guards will monitor on a 24-hour basis the apartment complex in Chloraka that was evacuated, while at the same time the whole area will be covered by patrols of the Paphos Police Authority, according to the spokesman of the Paphos Police Authority and head of the Pafos ICF, Michalis Nicolaou.
According to Mr. Nikolaou, the guards were placed in the area by the community council of Chlorakas and a private loan management company.
Besides, he continued, the Department of Public Works has started last Friday the sealing of the entrances of apartment buildings with the installation of building grates, which is expected to be completed tomorrow or the day after.
Nicolaou said that although the police have carried out the instructions given regarding the evacuation of the apartment complex, they are nevertheless carrying out extensive checks on a daily basis to rule out the possibility of any person relocating there
Meanwhile, in another development, the Police proceeded to a total of 30 traffic complaints, following checks on vehicles, in the context of an operation from yesterday Monday at 19:00 until today at 07:00 in the morning, in the areas of Chlorakas, Emba, and Tremithousa.
According to Nicolaou, among others, one person was found to be driving under the influence of alcohol, two people driving under the influence of drugs, and six people driving at excessive speed.
A driver was also reported for having an infant in a vehicle that was not in a fixed seat and was being held by the front passenger. The remaining complaints concerned minor traffic offences.
Nicolaou said that coordinated control and patrol operations continue by the Police on a 24-hour basis, with the aim of tackling crime and consolidating security in the wider area.
