A large number of Syrian asylum seekers did not show up at Paphos construction sites over the past week, following last Sunday's and Monday's incidents.
The explanation given by some in the industry is that asylum seekers of those whose applications were not examined cannot work in this industry and have therefore "disappeared" for obvious reasons.
They continue to work those whose applications have been approved and are in Cyprus either with the status of political refugee or with the status of subsidiary protection.
