FROM MONDAY, PRIORITY AT BANKS FOR THOSE WITH DISABILITIES OR AGED OVER 75

 Filenews 22 September 2023

As of next Monday, September 25, people with disabilities and the elderly over 75 will be served with priority at the cash desks of bank branches.

There are already special signs in the bank service areas for this change, which through legislation comes into force next week.

In particular, it is noted that the member banks of the Association of Cyprus Banks, applying the provisions of Law 9(I)/2023 which provides for the provision of priority in public service areas to defined population groups and therefore at the branches of its member banks, priority will be given to persons with disabilities and persons over the age of 75. Relevant information signs have been posted in a prominent position of the public service area at the branches of member banks.

It is also mentioned that the aforementioned legislation concerns both public and private enterprises that serve the public and requires a relative wait in line. At the same time, it is noted that most banks have long implemented this measure, in an effort to better and more directly serve vulnerable groups of the population, for whom waiting burdens or inconveniences their health.
