As a member of the 50 destinations in Europe participating in the pilot project for smart tourist destinations, Pafos promotes from this year the international trends of digitalization, the use and adoption of technologies, as well as applications and tools of artificial intelligence and robotics in the hospitality industry.
Destinations through this project have the opportunity to engage in a personalized journey to improve the use of tourism data, while also joining as part of a community of European smart tourism destinations.
Smart Tourism Destinations is an initiative of the European Commission to support EU destinations in facilitating access to tourism and hospitality products and services through technological innovation. EU cities will learn how to implement innovative digital solutions to make tourism sustainable and accessible, making full use of their cultural heritage and creativity to improve the tourism experience. In particular, the project focuses on how EU destinations can adopt data-driven approaches to become or improve as smart tourism destinations.
In this context, a workshop for hotel executives was already held last June in Paphos, at the initiative of ETAP.
