Paphos police on Friday arrested a hotel employee on suspicion of stealing over €2,000 from guests’ rooms.

The 20-year-old man was detained after police secured testimony against him.

He is being investigated in connection with three different thefts reported from different hotel guests on September 8, 18 and 20. The total amount of money stolen was reported at €2,000 and £230.

Police said that during their examinations at the scene, there was no violated windows or doors.

Hence, authorities estimate the employee entered the rooms using the master key.

Police handcuffed a 34-year-old man yesterday in connection with an investigation into an attempted arson of a company's offices in Limassol.

According to police, the 34-year-old was arrested when he went to the hospital's emergency department with injuries to his hands.

The incident, according to police, happened in the early hours of Friday. The 34-year-old allegedly tried to set fire to the offices of a company located in the Omonia area.

While allegedly shattering the glass of the offices, he was noticed by an employee who was there, who shouted. The 34-year-old, according to police, fled leaving flammable material at the scene.

Injured by the shattering of the window, the 34-year-old went to Limassol hospital, requesting treatment at the first aid department. Members of the police who were informed about the incident went to the state hospital and arrested him. The arrested person is expected to be brought before the Limassol district court for a detention order.
