A Greek Cypriot resident of the village of Emba created chaos in his neighbourhood last night.
Under the influence of drunkenness, he caused anxiety, smashed dishes and other objects in his home and continued to riot even when a police patrol arrived at the scene.
When they tried to appease him, he attacked the police, who handcuffed the 49-year-old.

A British man who arrived at Paphos airport last night on holiday was arrested by police. An arrest warrant had been pending against him since 2015 when he was back in Paphos on holiday.
According to police, he had been involved in a fight and had beaten a 31-year-old Greek Cypriot from Geroskipou, causing him actual bodily harm.
The Briton spent the first day of his holiday in detention and today he is expected to appear before the Paphos district court to register the case.

A total of 23 complaints for various traffic offences were made last night by members of the Pafos Police Department.
The complaints include two drivers who tested positive for alcohol, a driver who tested positive for a drug test and a scooter operator.

In the context of investigating a case of detection and seizure of 32 kilos of cannabis, (28/7/2023 in Limassol), members of the Anti-Narcotics Service, conducted today on the basis of a court warrant, a search of a rural residence in Liopetri.
During the search, a 33-year-old man's home found a loaded pistol with eight full rounds of ammunition, a shotgun, as well as 61 full shotgun cartridges.
In an auxiliary ventilation shaft, which abuts outside the house, 39 nylon packages were found, which contained about 22 kilos of cannabis.
The 33-year-old was arrested and detained to facilitate interrogations.

Police arrested a 24-year-old man at dawn to facilitate investigations into an ongoing case of robbery and illegal possession of property, committed a short time earlier in Larnaca.
The investigation of the case began after a complaint by a 21-year-old resident of Larnaca that he was the victim of a robbery. As the complainant complained, around 1.20 a.m. Today, while walking on a street in Larnaka, he was approached by an unknown man, who pointed a knife at him and stole his mobile phone and a €20 note. According to the 21-year-old, the attacker allegedly asked for €20 to return his phone, but the complainant ran away.
Following the 21-year-old's complaint, members of the police, who were on motorized patrol in the area where the robbery was committed, located a man who matched the description given by the 21-year-old for the perpetrator. The officers moved towards the unknown man, who tried to flee by running. The members of the Police followed him and managed to stop him nearby.
It was found that the 24-year-old was in possession of a knife, a mobile phone (of the same make and model as the one stolen from the 21-year-old) and a number of bank cards issued to various persons.

Police arrested a 35-year-old man to facilitate police investigations into an ongoing case involving illegal supply and possession of drugs, stabbing and assault on a police officer.
According to the Police, ten minutes after midnight on Tuesday, September 19, members of the Larnaka Police Directorate, while on motorized patrol, spotted a car stopped on a road in Aradippou and a person trying to start it. The members of the AADE approached this 35-year-old man, who, as soon as he noticed the presence of the police, began to behave restlessly.
Officers searched the 35-year-old and searched his car. During the body search, two knives were found in his possession, one folding, turning into a fixed blade 5 and a half centimeters long and the second opening with an 8 cm blade, cannabis plant matter weighing 0.45 grams and crystal substance methamphetamine, weighing 0.1 grams.
The 35-year-old was arrested for the offences he committed, but immediately after his arrest he became angry and began threatening and attacking members of the police and resisting arrest. Specifically, the man attacked a police officer by hitting him in the face and various parts of his body, resulting in minor injuries, namely abrasions, cuts and bruises of upper and lower limbs.
Eventually, the 35-year-old was restrained and he along with the police officer were transferred to the Emergency Department of Larnaka General Hospital where they were given first aid and dismissed.
The man was then taken to the offices of YKAN Larnaca where, under questioning in writing, he admitted to committing the offences under investigation regarding the drugs found in his possession. The 35-year-old is being investigated for offences relating to unlawful supply of a controlled drug class A and B, unlawful possession of a controlled drug class A and B, stabbing, assaulting a police officer, resisting lawful arrest, threatening violence and causing alarm.
The man was questioned and released to be summoned to court at a later stage. The case is being investigated by the Larnaka District Unit of YKAN and the Aradippou Police Station.
