Two men aged 38 and 40 were arrested today on warrants and remanded in custody to facilitate inquiries into an ongoing case of assault occasioning grievous bodily harm. The investigation of the case began a few minutes after midnight on September 8, 2023, when a 22-year-old man was found injured in the Limassol marina. The injured person, who suffered facial injuries, was taken to the Limassol General Hospital, where he was kept for treatment.
A few hours later, a 25-year-old man was taken to a private clinic in Limassol, also with facial injuries. The 25-year-old was found to have a fractured eye socket and was taken into hospital. According to what the 25-year-old reported, around 12.15 am. on September 8, while she was with the 22-year-old in a nightclub in Limassol, they were attacked by unknown persons. From further examinations by the Police, testimony was secured against the 38-year-old and the 40-year-old. Based on this testimony, judicial arrest warrants were issued against them and they were arrested today, to facilitate investigations. Photos of the two arrested had been released to the public, by the Police, for the purpose of identifying them. After their arrest, the continued publication of the photos and of their personal information is unnecessary. The TAE of Limassol is investigating the case.* * * * * *

Houses in the Elutkia area between Timi, Mandria and Anarita were at risk of fire in the afternoon. The fire was maliciously set in a reed bed after three outbreaks were detected simultaneously.
Due to smoke, the motorway was closed for a few minutes. A car was slightly damaged by the heat and the immediate mobilization of the fire brigade prevented the worst.

A 37-year-old man was arrested trying to leave Larnaca airport on Saturday after had previously given sworn testimony he had lost his travel documents.
According to head of Paphos CID Michalis Nikolaou, the 37-year-old was charged on July 8, 2022 by Paphos District Court for a case of burglary and theft.
The court released him on condition he surrender all his travel documents.
On the same day, the 37-year-old gave sworn testimony he had lost his travel documents and was not in possession of an ID card or passport to hand over.
On Saturday afternoon, the 37-year-old presented himself at departures at Larnaca airport and presented a Greek ID card issued on February 4, 2004.
As such, he proved the oath given at Paphos court to be false, so was arrested.
A case of perjury and disobeying court orders is being examined against him.
