The President of the Association of Pafos Leisure Centre Owners, Angelos Onisiforou, will request a meeting with the Deputy Minister of Tourism, Costas Koumis, to discuss the problems faced by his sector and the reduced number of leisure centres observed during June and July.
In an announcement by SIKAP, Mr. Onisiforou says that although the Deputy Minister of Tourism estimates that tourist traffic in Cyprus this year is at high levels compared to last year and generally moves on an upward course, however, he adds, according to the messages they receive, the traffic in leisure centers is not as expected.
It adds that during the months of June and July the turnover of the leisure centres in Pafos presented serious problems.
The announcement goes on to say that in August the traffic is good, but the problem created by the previous months is of great concern to the industry to a great extent.
He also said that SIKAP has informed the Deputy Ministry of Tourism of their concerns and they are expected to request a meeting to examine the issue with the Deputy Minister of Tourism.
He also argues that the upward trend of tourism in Cyprus allegedly concerns only hotels and not leisure centers, with all the negative consequences for its industry.
