Countless are the kilometers that cyclist – volunteer Petros Stylianou Ppolos, a resident of Tala, has covered with his bicycle, collecting money for his suffering fellow human beings.
Now he is preparing for a great project that will help cancer patients in the Paphos district. He will cross Europe on his bike raising money for the creation of an oncology center in Paphos.
Even on his vacation, these days in the border village of Tillyria, Petros trains for this great goal. Petros was particularly sensitive to this issue , since with great will and loyalty he overcame the cancer he was facing a few years ago.
After his treatment, he has set as his life goal the help of his suffering fellow human beings. He regularly participates in similar struggles in Cyprus that aim to strengthen state structures and families with financial problems whose members face serious health problems.
The creation of an oncology center for the residents of the most remote district from Nicosia is difficult but not impossible, he stresses. "The patients from Paphos are suffering immeasurably. I experienced this great suffering myself and my family members and I hope that a centre will also be set up in Paphos in order to end the daily suffering of patients who come and go to Nicosia by bus."
Petros Ppolos said that in this venture he has the support of the church and the state, since the country's diplomatic missions will help him in his effort to cross Europe, passing through important European capitals in order to raise money for this purpose.
