Continuation of the repatriation of irregular migrants, where since the beginning of the year, a total of 6,133 third-country nationals have been repatriated through voluntary and forced return procedures.
The 1326 cases concerned forced returns of irregular migrants, while in the same period last year, 3,985 nationals had been repatriated .
It is noted that within the framework of repatriation, the Cypriot authorities are forcibly returning migrants, in cooperation with the FRONTEX agency.
In the context of the above cooperation, a coordinated joint operation for the forced return of irregular migrants took place on 22/8/2023, where 13 third-country nationals staying illegally in Cyprus departed for their country.
The joint flight took place under the coordination of the Greek authorities, with the cooperation of the FRONTEX Agency and the Aliens and Migration Service, Police Headquarters.
