MERCURY RISES IN THE COMING DAYS

 Filenews 10 August 2023

The temperature may have dropped slightly in recent days compared to the period of unbearable heat we had days ago, but next weekend is expected to be particularly hot.

As the meteorological officer, Panagiotis Georgiou, told "F", both on Saturday and Sunday the temperature is expected to rise and range from 40 to 42 degrees Celsius.

A similar scene is not excluded on Monday, while the days that will follow will be more reminiscent of the days we are experiencing now, ie with the temperature expected around 38 degrees. Asked about this, Mr. Georgiou said that the Meteorological Service is expected to issue a weather warning over the weekend.

According to the Meteorological Service, today the weather will be mostly clear, although increased clouds will be observed from time to time.

Today, the weather will be mostly clear, although locally increased low cloud will initially be observed. During the afternoon hours, locally on the west and north coasts, temporarily increased clouds will appear.

The winds will initially blow mainly southeast to southwest and locally variable, weak and locally to moderate, 3 to 4 Beaufort, becoming gradually by the afternoon southwest to northwest, of the same intensity. Locally, however, and especially on the windward coast, winds will blow moderate, 4 Beaufort. The sea in the west and north will be a little turbulent, while in the south and east it will initially be calm until a little turbulent, but gradually becoming a little turbulent by the afternoon. The temperature will rise around 38 degrees in the interior, 31 on the west coast, around 33 on the rest of the coasts and 30 degrees in the higher mountains.

Tonight the weather will remain mostly clear, however locally, increased low clouds will be observed at times. During the dawn hours, sparse fog or fog is expected to form in places, especially in southeastern areas of the island but also in areas of the interior. The winds will initially blow mainly southwest to northwest, weak and locally to moderate, 3 to 4 Beaufort to later become northwest to northeast and on the north coast southeast, weak, 3 Beaufort. The sea in the south and east will become calm to a little turbulent, however in the west and north it will remain a little turbulent. The temperature will drop to around 21 degrees in the interior, around 23 degrees on the coast and 19 degrees in the higher mountains.

On Friday, the weather will be mostly clear, with locally increased clouds at times.

On Saturday and Sunday, the weather will be mostly clear.
On Friday, the temperature is not expected to change significantly, to remain close to average climatic values. By Sunday, however, the temperature will rise, to hover above the average climatic values for the season.
