The Police are again recommending caution to the public, after new complaints of fraud and attempted theft of large sums of money, by persons falsely presenting themselves as doctors.
In particular, the perpetrators of fraud contact citizens by phone and pretending to be doctors, they falsely report that a relative of the citizens who answer the phone call has been injured and needs immediate surgery and other medical treatment. The perpetrators are asking citizens to immediately pay large sums of money for medical expenses.
The perpetrators call with a hidden call and ask citizens not to interrupt the phone call, as a result of which they cannot contact their relative or the Police.
The Police recommend special caution, stressing that such telephone communications and claims are false and aimed at deceiving citizens and stealing large sums of money. The public is invited to inform the Police immediately, in the event that they receive a similar type of phone call, by contacting the nearest Police Station or the District Police Department, or the Citizen's Hotline, at the telephone number 1460.
