The Nicosia Crime Detection Department is investigating a case of premeditated murder, committed yesterday afternoon in Nicosia, with victim Athanasios Kotlis, 40 years old from Greece.
According to the evidence under examination, at around 6.50 yesterday afternoon, the 40-year-old, who lives with another person, went up to the apartment where he lives on the third floor of an apartment building in Nicosia, to take some personal belongings of his cohabitant, which they had forgotten when they left.
The 40-year-old, who was not in possession of apartment keys, knocked on the door for his roommate to open it.
At some point, under circumstances that are being investigated, residents of the apartment building heard voices and located the 40-year-old on the ground at the back of the apartment building.
The 40-year-old was taken by ambulance to Nicosia General Hospital, where a doctor on duty certified his death.
As part of the investigation of the case, the police proceeded on the basis of a court warrant to arrest a 38-year-old man.
The ICF Nicosia continues the examinations.
