An expatriate who was driving his vehicle last night under the influence of drugs caused a duel between police officers who tried to check him.
The incident took place in Agios Antonios. Police officers last night identified 17 other drivers who had consumed alcohol before getting behind the wheel.

A 26-year-old man was arrested by members of the Police and taken into custody on suspicion of an investigated case of car theft committed in the Paphos district. The stolen car was found by members of the Police yesterday afternoon, in an area of Paphos, in the possession of the 26-year-old suspect.
The theft of the car was reported to the police on August 17, by its 75-year-old owner. According to the complaint, the vehicle was stolen between August 16 and 17 while parked on a road in the Chlorakas area.
Around 5.00 yesterday afternoon, members of the Police spotted the car parked in a car park in Chloraka. In the driver's seat was the 26-year-old suspect, who did not give sufficient explanations for the possession of the vehicle.
The 26-year-old was arrested for the offence of illegal possession of property, and was subsequently arrested on a court arrest warrant issued for the purpose of investigating a case of theft of the car.

A 36-year-old man was arrested by members of the Police, pursuant to a court warrant, who was detained for the purpose of investigating a case of car arson, committed yesterday, in the district of Larnaka. The Kofinou Police Station is investigating the case.
According to the data under investigation, around 1.10 am on Friday, a fire broke out in a car, which was parked outside a car machine shop, in the district of Larnaka. As revealed by the examinations that followed, it was found that the vehicle, owned by a 71-year-old man, had been immobilized at the scene for the last two years, due to mechanical failure.
The fire, which damaged the rear of the car, was extinguished by members of the Fire Brigade. From examinations made at the scene by members of the Fire Brigade and the Police, it was found that the fire in the vehicle had been set maliciously.

An attack on a mosque in Limassol occurred at midnight on Friday, with police mobilized.
The incident reportedly happened around 1:10 p.m., when a person threw two Molotov cocktails towards the mosque and immediately fled. There were no injuries from the incident, while there was damage to the entrance of the mosque.
Members of the Police and the Fire Brigade rushed to the spot. The perpetrator's movements were recorded by closed-circuit surveillance.

Two drivers who were involved in two road collisions, in the districts of Limassol and Famagusta, last night were found positive in a driving test under the influence of alcohol, with a reading of 98μg% and 75μg%, last night.
The first traffic collision occurred shortly after 8.00 pm on Friday, at Kyprianou Spyrou Avenue, in Limassol, where, under circumstances being investigated by the Police, a 57-year-old car driver collided with a car in front of him, driven by a 26-year-old man, with a 58-year-old man as a passenger. The 58-year-old co-driver was taken by an ambulance crew to Limassol General Hospital, where he was discharged after receiving first aid.
According to the Police, at the same time the 57-year-old driver was subjected by members of the Police to a breathalyzer test, with a final reading of 98μg%ml instead of up to 22 which is the allowed limit. He was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol and taken into custody for police questioning.
Later in the evening, around 4.30 after midnight, on the Ayia Napa-Paralimni road, under circumstances investigated by the Police, a 25-year-old car driver lost control of her vehicle, which moved left off the road and collided with a flower bed.
The 25-year-old driver was subjected by members of the Police to a driving test under the influence of alcohol, with a final reading of 75μg%ml.
The examinations are continued by the Limassol Traffic Police and the Paralimni Police Station, respectively.

The arrest of a 33-year-old Greek Cypriot was carried out by the Limassol YKAN, as a quantity of 22 kilos of cannabis was found in his possession.
Specifically, members of the YKAN, after evaluating information, went yesterday to search with a court warrant, at a house where the 33-year-old lives in the village of Vasa Koilaniou. During the search, a quantity of 22 kg of cannabis was located and seized.
