Despite the measures taken by the police in the wider area of Chloraka, an African man did not hesitate to attack a Greek Cypriot woman this morning, snatching money and other personal belongings.

The woman resisted and was injured when the African, who had been following her for a few meters, did not hesitate to attack her in the middle of the road, grabbing the bag she was holding.

The bag contained her wallet with personal documents and money and her mobile phone. The woman gave a statement to the police and was taken to a private clinic for treatment.

A 25-year-old man was arrested by members of the Police and detained by court order in connection with an investigated case of assault and stabbing of a 25-year-old man committed on June 30 in Nicosia. Another 21-year-old suspect had been arrested in the case, while police are looking for a third suspect, a 41-year-old man.

The 25-year-old was arrested yesterday under a court warrant issued to investigate the 25-year-old's assault and injury. The suspect was brought this morning before the Nicosia District Court, which, at the request of the Police, issued a two-day detention order for police examinations.

The attack according to the evidence under examination took place around 4:30 in the afternoon of Friday, June 30, when three persons attacked a 25-year-old man while he was at a premises in Nicosia. During the attack, one of the three attackers allegedly stabbed the 25-year-old in the chest.

As one of the three perpetrators, a 1-year-old man was arrested on July 21 by members of the police. In relation to the 21-year-old suspect, the Police have already registered the case before a Court for trial.

A third suspect, a 41-year-old man, is wanted by the police, who have released his photo and details, in order to collect information that may lead to his location.

The ICF Nicosia continues the examinations.

An eight-day detention order was issued yesterday for a 23-year-old man who was arrested by the police in connection with the arrival on the coast of Cyprus (southeast of Cape Greco) of a boat carrying a total of 27 migrants.

According to a representative of the Communication Branch of the Police Headquarters, the 23-year-old was brought yesterday before the Famagusta District Court, which, at the request of the Police, issued a court detention order, lasting eight days, for the purpose of investigating a case concerning the assistance of third-country nationals to enter the Republic.

The boat, about seven meters long, was intercepted on the afternoon of Tuesday, August 22, by a boat of the Port and Maritime Police, seven nautical miles off the coast of Cyprus and it was found that there were 27 people on board, 23 men, 2 women and two children.

Subsequent examinations secured testimony against the 23-year-old, who was allegedly the boat's navigator.
