Police arrested a 20-year-old Paphos fan shortly before the start of the opening match.

The young Paphos fan attempted to enter the stadium in possession of a 9cm long knife.

Members of the Police carried out an inspection operation at a hotel in the Paphos district this morning, following information that persons secured employment at the premises after presenting false documents.

Six persons, third-country nationals, were found to be working illegally at the premises and were arrested and detained, with the Police investigating a case of impersonation, forgery and circulation of a false document,  and illegal employment.

The inspection at the premises was carried out around 9.30 am on Friday by members of the Aliens and Immigration Service – Pafos Police Service. Six women aged between 20 and 39, third-country nationals, were found to be working illegally at the premises without permission from the competent Authority.

Two of the suspects, aged 20 and 31, reported false identity information to the members of the Police during the check, while as it was found from the examinations that followed, they secured employment at the premises, presenting documents with details other than their real details. It was also found that the 20-year-old resides legally in the Republic, while the 31-year-old remains illegally in the Republic.

The other four suspects, two women aged 25 and two women aged 29 and 39, remain illegally in the Republic. The 39-year-old entered the Republic illegally, while the two 25-year-olds and the 29-year-old remain in the Republic illegally, since their temporary residence permit has expired.
