The Community Council of Polemi attributes last night's interruption in the power supply to unruly youths who threw a chain at EAC cables within the community.
A large area of the community remained without electricity yesterday from 6:00 p.m. until midnight.
According to council officials, bedridden people living with oxygen machines in the area were moved to other homes. The police and other state agencies were also informed about the matter.

A police officer was attacked and ended up in hospital.
Specifically, around 3 a.m. today, while members of the MMAD were on motorized patrol in Paphos, they noticed a number of people arguing with each other outside a nightclub.
When members of the police approached the scene to restore order, a member of the MMAD was attacked by a person, resulting in injuries.
The alleged perpetrator was spotted a few minutes later on a Paphos street and taken to Paphos Central Police Station.
He is a 27-year-old visitor who was arrested on a court warrant for the offences of assaulting a police officer and causing grievous bodily harm.
The member of the Police was taken to Paphos General Hospital where it was found that he has a fractured fourth metacarpus, a possible nasal fracture as well as a friction burn. After receiving first aid, he was discharged.
The ICF Pafos continues the examinations.

A Bulgarian employee of the mobile camera company complained to the police that a Greek Cypriot attacked and beat him.
According to the complaint of the 28-year-old employee, while yesterday afternoon while he had parked the company's vehicle in an area of the village of Nea Dimmata, a private vehicle parked next to him and the driver started shouting and cursing at him.

Around 12:30 a.m. on 8 August, information was received to the Police about a fire in a house in a village in the Nicosia district, which was extinguished by the owner of the house.
From the examinations of the Police and Fire Brigade, it was found that the fire was set maliciously on three car tires, which had been placed by strangers, on the wall of the house. The fire caused damage to the wall of the house.
Further investigation of the case by the Police obtained testimony against three persons, aged 21 and 31, on the basis of which judicial arrest warrants were issued against them.
On the evening of 8 August, a 21-year-old man was located and arrested and taken into custody. Yesterday morning he was brought before the Nicosia District Court, which issued an eight-day detention order against him.
Last night the 31-year-old and the second 21-year-old were located and arrested under court warrants. Today the two are expected to be brought before the Nicosia District Court for a detention order.

Before the start of yesterday's football match between AEK-MACCABI TEL AVIV and during the checks carried out at the entrances of AEK ARENA stadium, four persons were found to be in possession of a total of 15 flares.
They are a 21-year-old man and three 19-year-olds, who were arrested and detained.
This morning the four arrested are expected to appear before the Larnaca District Court while the Larnaka Police Department continues its examinations.

A quantity of drugs and cannabis plants under cultivation was found and confiscated by police during a search of the home of a 45-year-old man. The 45-year-old was arrested and detained to facilitate interrogations.
Specifically, at around 6am today, members of the Police searched the home of a 45-year-old man in a village in the Nicosia district. During the search, they were found in pots in the yard of the house and four cannabis plants under cultivation were confiscated. A quantity of cannabis, with a gross weight of 426 grams, was also found and seized inside the house.
A judicial arrest warrant was issued against the 45-year-old, under which he was arrested and detained to facilitate interrogations. He was then brought before the Nicosia District Court, which issued a five-day detention order against him.
