A police officer with a ruptured tendon and a second with a neck contusion are the result of incidents caused by a portion of foreign tenants of the Chloraka building complex, which was cleared during the police operation to remove illegalities in the area on Tuesday.
According to the spokesman of the Pafos Police Directorate, Michalis Nicolaou, these are two members of the Aliens and Immigration Service who participated in the operation to implement the decisions taken at the Presidential Palace. The two police officers were reportedly injured by a 34-year-old foreigner who was found to be staying in Cyprus illegally and was under arrest during the police investigation.
The person in question, said the Paphos Police spokesman, injured one member of the YAM in the arm and the second in the neck and they were both transferred to Paphos Hospital where it was found that they suffered a ruptured hand tendon and neck contusion respectively.
The 34-year-old was arrested and will be charged in court, Nicolaou said, stressing that the offences he faces are those of resisting lawful arrest, causing grievous bodily harm and actual bodily harm.
