The 42-year-old Russian mother of the 10-year-old girl who tragically died in the pool of the Coral Bay mansion on July 20, during the family's vacation, was released on instructions from the General Prosecutor's Office.
A day before her detention order expired for six days, the police sent the file to the Legal Service for further instructions. Based on this, some additional evidence from scientific examinations is needed to finalize the position of the prosecution and after that instructions were given that the 42-year-old should be released until the completion of the examinations.
On the basis of the additional scientific examinations requested by the Legal Service, the Attorney General will decide whether or not to prosecute the mother.
The 10-year-old girl lost her life in the pool of the villa where she was staying with her mother for their holidays in Paphos. At the time in question, according to the investigations, the mother was in a semi-faint state in her bedroom, visibly intoxicated, leaving the little girl unattended.
The 10-year-old was found by a friend of her mother's who had gone to the mansion at the bottom of the pool and they informed the authorities. According to the findings of the autopsy, the death of the unfortunate girl was caused by drowning in the water.
