A police officer serving at the Pafos ICF rescued a 17-year-old Ukrainian student who lives permanently in Paphos. The young girl along with three of her peers went last night to the beach of a hotel in Kato Paphos for swimming.
Shortly after 11 p.m., while the others had come out of the water, the 17-year-old had shown no signs of life. Her friends were worried and called for help. Port and maritime police rushed to the scene, as well as an ambulance on shore and members of the police who began searching for the 17-year-old.
This policeman fell into the sea and spotted the young woman floating unconscious in the water. He pulled her to shore and gave her first aid, saving her life.
In this attempt he was injured in the leg, went to Paphos hospital and after being given first aid he was discharged.
