PETRA TOU ROMIOU - NEXT PHASE BEGINS

 Pafos Live 1 July 2023

Since the beginning of the year, works have been completed to repair part of the road surface on the old Paphos-Limassol road, next to Petra tou Romiou.

The road has been closed for the last four years due to landslides. This section from the area of Pissouri to the area of Ha-Potami was out of circulation for the last four years, while indicative of the problems that existed is the doubling of the cost of restoration from  €700,000 initially estimated to €1.4 million.

The Department of Public Works is also preparing the documents for the tenders, in the coming months, for the second phase of road rehabilitation worth €4 million. The work completed concerned the construction of stabilisation measures for this section of the old Paphos-Limassol road. Specifically, two clusters of pile walls were constructed, works were carried out for rainwater management as well as subsoil sanitation works and road construction works.

At the same time, viewing places have been created for visitors to the unique natural monument of Petra tou Romiou.
