The Pafos Region Tourism Development and Promotion Company welcomes the operation of the new central urban and intercity transport station in the centre of Pafos.
Undoubtedly, the project adds significantly to the overall infrastructure of the destination and to the implementation of the goal of the Pafos authorities for a continuous upgrade of the tourist product and the services offered. Nevertheless, public transport on urban and interurban routes has to face chronic problems and Pafos ETAP calls on those responsible to finally provide solutions, the body also says.
Such problems, according to ETAP, concern the service of passengers from Pafos Airport to the district of Polis Chrysochous, the need to adjust and densify the routes to serve a large number of regular flights from Paphos International Airport and to the best passenger service in the countryside.
The tourist operator of the district also speaks of the need to strengthen the routes from Coral Bay to the center of Paphos and vice versa, as well as from Geroskipou to the center of Paphos, without the need for the passenger to be forced to change two buses and buy two tickets, one to Kato Paphos and another from there to the center.
ETAP believes that bus stops and shelters also need further improvements, since both inside and outside urban areas the situation is considered unacceptable. In many cases, he points out, there are not even shelters and if there are, they are dissimilar and diverse both in design, construction and materials, while they do not include any trace of technology.
We hope for the immediate adoption of initiatives by the competent Minister of Transport to resolve the above problems that have plagued public transport for years.
