The digitization and implementation of smart programs does not only concern the Municipality of Pafos, which this year is the European Capital of Smart Tourism.
The advantages of modern methods of operation of local authorities are exploited by the province even for its most remote points, taking advantage of the important EU funding programmes.
With the assistance of the Deputy Ministry of Tourism and ETAP, many local authorities in all parts of the province have been investing in digitalization over the last year. In this context, another innovation was implemented during this period with the creation for the first time of a digital area map with pilot placement in communities of the province, such as Steni, Kathikas and Kritou Terra.
Through the digitization of information and the creation of an electronic map, visitors and all users are now provided with an innovative, rich, intelligent and interactive information, while on the other hand important statistics are collected. These maps are based on google maps, provide online information about community points of interest, licensed accommodations, recreation centres, viewpoints and more.
The competent bodies will evaluate the effectiveness of this action in the coming months, while at the same time its extension to other communities in the province is being considered.
