A proposed development of €50 million will be implemented by the Commission. A Ukrainian businessman, permanent resident of Cyprus, intends to build the project in the "heart" of Limassol.

This is the "Hyperion" (spinning wheel), a fantastic project which aims to provide significant economic, cultural and social benefits for the place and to mark the beginning of a new cultural and technological development of the city.

On Wednesday afternoon, PPA Architects, which has undertaken the design of the project, presented it before the body of the Limassol Municipality Municipal Council. The project does not fall under the jurisdiction of the Municipality, but under the jurisdiction of the Port Authority, which at first seems to give the green light to its implementation.

This is the construction of a spinning wheel that will bear the name "Hyperion" and will have a height of about 147 meters above sea level. It will consist of 45 cabins with a capacity of 6-12 people and upon the recommendation of the Port Authority the project will be constructed in the area of the old Port of Limassol. The base of the wheel will consist of three levels, which will be joined by a spiral ramp. It was also pointed out that the construction was designed to be 6 times lighter and 4 times more stable than the London Eye.

The aim, according to the designers of the project, is to become a symbol and attraction of the city, to contribute to the development of the economy and tourism of the place, to attract tourists and residents of the whole island to Limassol and to be one of the highest panoramic wheels in the world. During the presentation, it was pointed out that the wheel technology fully complies with global safety standards and can compete with similar projects in its category.

It aims to offer significant economic, cultural and social benefits for our country and to mark the beginning of a new cultural and technological development of Limassol.
