FOREST FIRES IN FYTI BROUGHT UNDER CONTROL

Two forest fires were brought under full control in the community of Fyti in the Paphos district.

According to an announcement by the Department of Forests, the fires occurred yesterday at 22:00 and today at dawn, at 02:40.

It is reported that the first fire was brought under full control at 23:00 after burning 3 decares of wild vegetation and reeds.

For its extinguishing, 2 people of the Department of Forests with a fire truck, 2 people of the Fire Service with a fire truck, 4 people of the Game and Fauna Service with a small fire truck and 2 people of the Community Council of Fyti with a small fire truck were involved.

It is added that the second fire was brought under full control at 4:00am after burning 1 hectare of almond trees, carob trees and wild vegetation.

For its extinguishing, 2 people of the Department of Forests dealt with a fire truck and 3 private tractors.

The exact causes of the fires are being investigated.
