20-year-old handcuffed for smuggling irregular migrants.
At around 2.20pm, yesterday, a boat about five meters long, carrying 151 irregular migrants (all men, including three unaccompanied minors), was spotted at a distance of 6 nautical miles east of Cape Greco.
The irregular migrants were picked up and transported safely by Police Akato to Ayia Napa Marina, where they were then transferred to the Pournara Temporary Accommodation Centre.
The examinations carried out revealed testimony against a 20-year-old person (driver of the boat), who was arrested to facilitate interrogations.

More than 340 rounds of firearms, a large sum of money, and a quantity of cocaine were found at the residence of a 49-year-old man, who was arrested and detained for police questioning.
In a search conducted yesterday afternoon, at the 49-year-old's residence in the Limassol district, in his presence, members of the Limassol YKAN found four packages containing a total of 349 rounds of firearms, 9 and 7.62 mm in diameter. They also found a sum of €11,900, the origin of which is being investigated, and a quantity of cocaine weighing approximately 6.3 grams.
Upon locating the cartridges, money and drugs, the 49-year-old, who was in custody after being arrested the day before for the offenses of possession of burglary and illegal possession of property, was re-arrested by the members of the YKAN for the offenses of illegal possession of explosives, illegal possession of property, and possession of drugs.
The examinations are continued by the YKAN (Limassol District Unit) and the Platres Police Station.
Initially, the 49-year-old was arrested last Monday, July 03, shortly before 2.00 in the morning, by members of the Limassol OPE, who intercepted the vehicle he was driving on a road in the area of Agia Fylaxeos, following information about the theft of materials from a building, located on the same street. A quantity of building iron was found in the 49-year-old's vehicle, as well as two pairs of hand scissors, resulting in both him and a 32-year-old man who was riding in the vehicle as a passenger, being arrested for the offenses of illegal possession of property and possession of burglary tools.
The 32-year-old was also arrested for the flagrant offences of drug possession, after a check found him in possession of a quantity of cannabis weighing approximately 5.8 grams, a white crystalline substance believed to be methamphetamine weighing approximately 0.3 grams, and a white substance believed to be cocaine weighing approximately 5.3 grams.
The examinations continue at the ICF of Limassol and the YKAN (Limassol District Unit), with the two suspects having been placed in three-day detention, pursuant to a decree issued on Monday by the Limassol District Court.
