Following the arrest of the 65- and 66-year-old couple from Larnaca, who are alleged to be the collectors in Cyprus of an international ring that deceives the elderly, the police are expanding their examinations in an attempt to identify the mastermind of the large gang, who is Greek and presented himself to the suspects as "Valentinos".

The investigators of the ICF of Larnaka have requested the assistance of Interpol teams in two countries, since it was found that those who presented themselves as pseudo-doctors to the prospective victims, operated from Bulgaria and called from Romanian numbers.

In two cases, the suspects travelled to Bulgaria and apparently handed over sums of money to Valentine's associates. Police are also under the microscope of four mobile phones found in a safe at the home of the couple who were arrested, as well as packages of sim cards from abroad. In the same safe, it is recalled that €16,000, nine gold coins and gold coins belonging to a 79-year-old woman, who said she fell victim to the spiral last Thursday, were found.

The suspects, following instructions from members of the gang, allegedly snatched from a total of four elderly women in Larnaca more than €100,000. So far they have been linked to the 79-year-old's case and efforts are underway to find evidence for the others.

For this reason, in the coming days, reconnaissance factions will take place and the complainants, some of whom needed medical treatment after members of the gang stole money stored in their homes, will be called upon to identify the suspects. A financial investigation will also be carried out against the couple in order to determine whether they acquired assets after May 16, the date on which the ring began its activity in Larnaca. If they acquired property after this date, then MOKAS will also be involved in order to consider their commitment.

Investigators in the case arrived at the arrest of the two suspects, who have no criminal past, assessing information provided by citizens and CCTV footage.
