Following an assessment of information received by EUROPOL, members of the Headquarters Cybercrime Branch proceeded today on the basis of a court warrant to arrest one person.
This is a 56-year-old man who was detained to facilitate interrogations.
The arrest of the 56-year-old was preceded by information that a certain account holder/user of a specific application uploaded child sexual abuse material online.
The 56-year-old was found in possession of a mobile phone, which was taken as evidence for scientific examination.
The Cybercrime Division of the Headquarters continues the examinations.

19 irregular migrants, who were safely transported to the Paralimni fishing shelter, were detected yesterday afternoon by members of the Port and Maritime Police.
The small boat with 19 people on board (14 men and 5 unaccompanied minors) was intercepted about 8.5 nautical miles southeast of Cape Greco.
During the escort of the irregular migrants by the members of the Port and Maritime Police, and due to the prevailing weather conditions, it was deemed appropriate for their own safety, for the passengers of the boat to board the Akato of the Port Authority where they were safely transferred ashore and then taken to the Pournara Accommodation Center.
The examinations carried out revealed testimonies against four persons aged 19, 20, 21 and 32 for the flagrant offences of illegal entry into the territory of the Republic of Cyprus and the prohibited immigrant who were arrested to facilitate interrogations and detained.

A 54-year-old man was injured in a pub in Geroskipou after being attacked by another patron.
The curious thing is that the victim and the alleged perpetrator had just met and a few minutes before the episode they were drinking and talking together. According to the spokesman of the Pafos Police Department, Michalis Nicolaou, the 54-year-old was at a pub in the Geroskipou area where, as he reported, he was attacked with a broken bottle by a person he had just met there.
According to the complainant, while they were talking, at some point the alleged perpetrator completely unprovoked, broke a bottle and attacked him.
The 54-year-old was slightly injured before he managed to disarm the man. He was taken to Paphos Hospital where, according to the on-duty doctor, he was found to have a traumatic wound to the neck and two lacerations to his right arm. Stitching was done and he was released.
Examinations, the police spokesman stressed, revealed that the alleged perpetrator is aged 44. An arrest warrant has been issued against him and he is wanted.

Paphos Police arrested a 47-year-old man for an investigation into burglary and theft.
According to the Spokesperson of the Pafos Police Authority and Head of the Pafos ICF, Michalis Nicolaou, on July 1st it was reported by the owner of an apartment complex that on the same day, at 20:00, when he went to the canteen of the complex, he met someone who, as he found out, consumed beers. According to the complaint, he had allegedly tampered with the refrigerator, causing damage amounting to €500 and had stolen various drinks worth a total of €500.
Examinations revealed that the alleged perpetrator is a 47-year-old visitor to Cyprus. According to the police, after further examinations he was arrested while allegedly experiencing psychological problems and was detained for hospitalization.

It was reported yesterday afternoon to the Police by a resident of Nicosia District that, between the dates of July 1-2, 2023, unknown persons broke into his home and stole a sum of money, as well as various items of jewellery.
As part of the investigation of the case and based on the evaluation of evidence and information, testimony was obtained against a 29-year-old resident of the Nicosia district, who was located in an area of Nicosia where he was trying to find out the value of the jewellery in his possession, with the intention of selling them.

Two persons arrested for illegal drugs, unlawful possession of property and possession of burglary tools By Communication Branch (Asst.1811) access_time July 3, 2023
At around 1.50am today, members of the Limassol CID, during a motorised patrol, intercepted a car in which two persons were travelling.
A subsequent check to identify them was carried out and it was found that they were a 49-year-old man and a 32-year-old man, both residents of Limassol.
Subsequently, during the investigation carried out, a quantity of building iron and a handsaw were found inside the vehicle and they were arrested for offences of their own accord.
In a body search carried out, a cigarette packet containing a bag of cannabis weighing approximately 6 grams, a nylon bag containing a white crystalline substance believed to be methamphetamine, weighing approximately 0.3 grams, and a bag containing a white substance resembling cocaine, weighing approximately 5.3 grams, were found in the possession of the 32-year-old.
The two arrested persons were taken into custody while the case is being investigated by the Limassol CID in cooperation with the Limassol YCAN (Limassol Branch).
