A young Greek Cypriot from a village in Paphos was sentenced to four years in prison.
He was found guilty of defrauding two brothers, orphaned by a father, and extorting from both of them a sum of money of about €150,000.
This money was their father's inheritance.

A total of 73 people, including children and unaccompanied minors, were rescued from a fishing boat southeast of Cape Greco, which was in danger of capsizing due to bad weather conditions and overloading.
As Steve Theodoulou, spokesman of the Famagusta Police Directorate, told CNA: "At around 22:25 on Friday, July 28, a Port and Maritime Police vessel spotted a fishing boat 12 nautical miles southeast of Cape Greco with 73 people on board, namely 9 women, 11 children and 53 men, 7 of whom were unaccompanied minors."
He added that "due to the overloading of the boat and due to the bad weather conditions that prevailed in the area and posed risks of capsizing of the boat, its passengers were taken to the Paralimni fishing shelter."
They were then transferred to the Famagusta Police Authority for questioning.

Police arrested a 48-year-old man yesterday as part of an investigation into a case involving theft from a residence.
According to a complaint made to the Police, between the dates of April 10-26, 2023, property amounting to €40,550 was stolen from a house in Limassol, including a sum of money and gold sovereigns.
The 48-year-old suspect was arrested yesterday afternoon under a court arrest warrant and taken into custody to facilitate questioning.

The Police proceeded to the seizure of a new large quantity of cannabis, close to 30 kilos, following an operation carried out yesterday in Limassol by members of the Anti-Narcotics Service – YKAN.
Specifically, in the context of investigating information, members of the YKAN Unit in Limassol stopped a 26-year-old man for checking, while he was being transported in a car he was driving, in the area of Agia Fylaxeos.
A search found a quantity of cannabis weighing approximately 30 kg inside the vehicle. The 26-year-old suspect was arrested by members of the police for the purpose of investigating a drug trafficking case.

Police arrested two people aged 18 and 19 at dawn today as part of an investigation into a case involving conspiracy to commit a felony, possession and circulation of counterfeit currency and securing goods by false representations.
Specifically, the two suspects went with their friends on the evening of Thursday 27/07/2023, to a premises in the Famagusta district, where after paying the bill, the owner then found that among the money they gave him, nine counterfeit €10 notes were included.
The same group went again to the same premises last night, where the owner called the Police and pointed out the two persons who paid with the counterfeit banknotes, while one of them tried again to pay with a counterfeit banknote, before the arrival of the Police.
Subsequently, in a search of the residence of the two suspects, aged 18 and 19, a counterfeit €10 note was found, which was received as evidence.
