Authorities found a new large quantity of drugs in the luggage of passengers at Paphos airport. Two men arrived in Paphos on holiday, according to them, but in their luggage instead of the usual types of passengers on holiday, they had 16kg of cannabis.
The large quantity was found by members of the Airport Police, YKAN and the Department of Customs, following a coordinated operation based on information received by the security authorities.
In the luggage of a 55-year-old man and a 38-year-old man arriving from a European destination, more than 16 kilograms of cannabis were found and confiscated. The new large quantity of drugs was packaged in 16 nylon packages.
The two men were arrested and detained to facilitate interrogations.

A case of fraud and extortion of money by false representations, with a 78-year-old resident of Limassol as the victim, is being investigated by the Police. The criminals managed to extort more than €255,000 from her.
According to what she reported to the police, the 78-year-old, at the end of June 2023, received a notification, from the bank with which she works, about suspicious transactions in her accounts. After an audit, she found that between May 26 and June 21, 2023, various money transfers were made to various foreign accounts, as well as three transactions on a cryptocurrency exchange, without her consent.
According to the complainant, around mid-May 2023, she received a call from an unknown man, who allegedly asked for her bank account number, supposedly in order to deposit money from the investment profits they made in the past. The 78-year-old was convinced by the unknown man's words and gave him access to her account through the online bank.
The audit carried out revealed that the total amount extracted from the complainant amounts to €255,126.
The Financial Crime Investigation Office of the ICF Limassol is investigating the case.

Police found homemade firecrackers in Chloraka.
According to the spokesperson of the Pafos Police Authority and head of the Pafos ICF, Michalis Nicolaou, on July 7 at 17:30, following information, members of the Pafos Police went to a street in the area of Chlorakas, where they found six improvised bronze firecrackers, as well as a quantity of materials used to make firecrackers such as coal, potassium and other objects.
All the items found were received as evidence for scientific examinations.

The Famagusta ICF has arrested a 29-year-old man from Nicosia in connection with the attempted kidnapping of a 35-year-old man at a beach bar near the port of Ayia Napa on Saturday afternoon.

The 29-year-old, according to philenews, is believed to have been the person who led the two masked men, who are being sought.
