POLICE CHECKS FOR DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF ALCOHOL OR DRUGS

 Filenews 14 June 2023

The Police announce the intensification of checks to identify drivers under the influence of alcohol or drugs, with the aim, as it says, of protecting the public, preventing and reducing road collisions on the roads.

In a statement, the police noted that driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is one of the main causes of fatal and serious road collisions.

As mentioned, the intensified checks will last from June 14 to June 20, 2023 and will be carried out 24 hours a day, throughout the road network. Particular emphasis will be given during the night hours of Friday and Saturday, when the phenomenon of driving under the influence of alcohol occurs more frequently.

At the same time, increased checks to identify drivers driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs will also be carried out in European countries, as part of a pan-European campaign, under the auspices of the European Traffic Police Network ROADPOL.

At the same time, it is noted that with the checks for driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs, the Police checks for the rest of the traffic violations continue.

As always, particular emphasis is placed on those offences that are the main causes of fatal and serious road collisions, such as speeding, using a mobile phone while driving and not wearing a seat belt and safety helmet.
