GROUP OF STRANGERS ATTACKED 3 PEOPLE - TWO IN HOSPITAL

The Police arrested a 22-year-old resident of Limassol this morning to facilitate investigations into a case of conspiracy to commit a felony and misdemeanor, robbery, carrying weapons to incite terror, causing actual and grievous bodily harm and offences in violation of the Law on Combating Certain Forms and Expressions of Racism and Xenophobia.

Specifically, around 1am today, information was received by the Police that on a specific street in Limassol, a group of unknown persons attacked and beat other persons. Members of the Police immediately went to the scene, where they located a 43-year-old man, who as he told the police, went to the scene after receiving information from his friends that they were attacked by a group of strangers. He also reportedly reported that while at the scene, he himself was attacked by about 15 unknown persons.

A little later, a 20-year-old food delivery man went to the ICF of Limassol and reported that around 12.40 a.m. today, while on a Limassol street to deliver a food order, he was robbed. According to the complainant, while he was on the above road, four unknown persons approached him and after pointing a knife at him, they stole both the order and the amount of money in his possession, as well as his motorcycle.

According to the complainant, a little later he was informed by his friends that his motorcycle was located at a specific point in Limassol. After going with two friends to the area to pick up the motorcycle, they were allegedly attacked by a group of unknown youths, causing them to flee.

The strangers followed them and managed to intercept them nearby. They then attacked them and beat them with batons and other offensive instruments. The complainant managed to escape from the strangers, collect his motorcycle and go to the Police to report the incident.

Members of the Police went to Limassol General Hospital, where they located the two friends of the complainant. The 34-year-old and 38-year-old were detained for treatment, with their health described as serious but out of danger. It was found that the 34-year-old suffers, among other injuries, fractures of the facial skull and fracture of the right hand, while the 38-year-old has a fractured patella, bruises and traumatic injuries.

Police examinations secured testimony against the 22-year-old and a court warrant was issued for his arrest. This morning the 22-year-old was arrested and detained to facilitate interrogations.

The ICF Limassol is investigating the case.
