A subsidy scheme for the operation of medical facilities for independent assisted living in tourist accommodation and hotels, with the aim of attracting health and wellness tourism, was approved today by the Council of Ministers.
In her statements, the Minister of Health Popi Kanari, who deputizes for the Deputy Minister of Tourism, noted that the Scheme will offer the opportunity to beneficiary businesses to secure a subsidy amount depending on their size and geographical area.
The total amount of the Grant Scheme, noted Dr. Kanari, amounts to five million euros and will be valid for a period of three years (2023-2026). Potential beneficiaries are all licensed tourist accommodation establishments and hotels on a nationwide basis. The Plan is based on two regulations, the De Minimis and the General Exemption Regulation.
The maximum amount of subsidy, she added, regardless of the size of the enterprise, small, medium or large, will be €200,000 per single enterprise over three years, subject to the provisions of the regulation De Minimis. In mountainous, remote and remote areas, the subsidy rate will be 75%, it will be around 65% of total expenditure in rural areas it will be around 50% in other areas.
As far as the General Exemption Regulation is concerned, potential beneficiaries will be only small and medium-sized enterprises, The maximum grant amount is one million euros while the maximum grant amount will be up to 20%.
The ultimate goal of the plan, the minister pointed out, is to financially support existing hotels and tourist accommodation, in order to be able to attract year-round health and wellness tourism and become accessible and friendly to people with any form of disability.
The Plan, concluded Dr. Kanaris, will be announced immediately, with its publication by the official gazette of the Republic.
