The Pafos Region Tourism Development and Promotion Company, continuing its efforts to upgrade the tourist experience and implement actions that contribute to the transformation of the Pafos district into a smart destination, is expanding the digitization of information and the installation of smart signs and for the promotion of perennial trees throughout the district. As the first pilot application, the Terebinth of Simos, a monument of nature that is thousands of years old, has been selected in collaboration with the Department of Forests.

Through the effort to promote these natural monuments, it includes, among other things, adequate information on various related issues with forest, trees and nature. Static information signs are now replaced with "smart", environmentally friendly, discreet and interactive signs.

The user, after initially scanning the QR code, can choose from his smart device the language of his choice, while he is offered a wide range of information options. In this case, information about terebinth, forest protection, the advantages that trees offer to humans and nature, the life cycle of trees, as well as rich photographic material, video, 360-degree tour and more.

The Pafos Tourism Board has only recently completed the production of material and in the coming days the third phase is completed, which includes the installation of 18 such signs in various areas and points of interest of the Pafos district such as Chloraka, Kissonerga, Pegeia, villages of Laona, Peristerona, Steni, Lysos, Amargeti, Statos-Agios Fotios and elsewhere.

In the coming weeks, the preparation of the fourth phase of the creation of smart signs begins, which is expected to include about 20 more points of interest throughout the province.
