Members of the Police spotted this morning, a 16-year-old minor driving his father's car, unaccompanied, on the Limassol-Nicosia highway. The minor was taken by the members of the Police to the local Police Station from where at the end of the examinations he was received by his father, against whom a case of non-storage of his car is being investigated.

Specifically, at around 8.15 am on Friday, members of the Traffic Police Headquarters and specifically members of the Road Accident Prevention Unit – OPOD, stopped for inspection the car driven by the 16-year-old, on the highway heading to Nicosia, at the height of the Kotsiatis area. He was taken to the Pera Chorio Police Station for examinations, while his father was called to the Police Station and attended.

According to the evidence that emerged during the examinations that followed, the owner of the car that the 16-year-old was driving is his father, without whose consent, the 16-year-old allegedly drove the car. The father of the minor, also according to the evidence under examination, allegedly did not take the necessary measures to guard his vehicle, as a result of which the 16-year-old gained possession and drove the vehicle. The two were charged in writing with the traffic offences under investigation and subsequently released.
