Authorities arrested two youths following testimony in a case of smuggling illegal immigrants.

Members of the Port and Maritime Police received yesterday afternoon a total of 45 irregular migrants (arrived in two boats), who were safely transported to the Ayia Napa marina.

The first boat carrying 18 irregular migrants was spotted 13 nautical miles southeast of Cape Greco.

The 27 irregular migrants on board the second boat were initially picked up 27 nautical miles southeast of Cape Greco by a merchant ship, due to their boat being in danger, and were then picked up by a police boat.

All irregular migrants were safely transferred ashore and then taken to the Pournara Accommodation Centre.

The examinations carried out revealed testimonies against two young persons aged 20 and 18 (drivers of the two boats), who were arrested to facilitate interrogations.

Police made a new arrest yesterday to facilitate investigations in connection with the investigated case of obtaining a residence permit in Cyprus with false documents.

He is a 22-year-old man who was arrested yesterday afternoon on a court warrant.

In the same case, 13 other persons who were arrested in the previous days are already in detention.

Various offences are being investigated against the above persons, including offences of conspiracy to commit a felony, conspiracy to defraud, forgery, circulation of a false document and obtaining registration by false representations, as well as offences of corruption, decimation of a public official, abuse of power and neglect of official duty.

The ICF Headquarters continues the examinations.

An explosion, which occurred at the association "Proodos" in the area of Agios Ioannis in Limassol, raised the alarm of the authorities at dawn.

Specifically, around 3 a.m., an improvised low-power explosive device exploded, placed at the entrance of a club premises in the area of Agios Ioannis, which also houses the Omonia Police Department, causing extensive damage to the entrance.

The scene was cordoned off and searches resumed intensively at first light of day.

A 29-year-old man brutally attacked a member of the Police Team Z in Limassol while off duty.

According to the police, the member of group Z, was talking with a colleague in an open space in Limassol, when the 29-year-old motorcyclist stopped next to him and hit him on the head, face and chest.

The policeman, trying to defend himself, put his hand on his face to avoid the blows, as a result of which the 29-year-old bit him on the hand.

Police handcuffed the 29-year-old.

A saloon car belonging to a foreigner was stolen last night from Chloraka. The vehicle, belonging to a Ukrainian who has a residence in the area and is currently absent, was stolen from the yard of his home shortly after nine o'clock last night.

Two hours later it was spotted on fire on the road from Kouyuka to Simou. ICF investigators believe that the vehicle ran out of fuel and the perpetrators wanted to eliminate evidence by setting fire to the interior of the vehicle that destroyed the driver's seat.
