Filenews 11 May 2023
The implementation of the Pancyprian Stray Cat Neutering Plan 2023-2025, with a total cost of €300,000, is announced by the Veterinary Services.
The implementation of the Plan will be undertaken by the District Veterinary Offices, with the help of the District Animal Welfare Committees and in cooperation with the Local Authorities and registered animal welfare organizations, following expressions of interest by these bodies.
Each Municipal and Community Council and any registered animal welfare organization interested in participating in the Scheme, is invited to submit the completed form by May 31, 2023 to the Veterinary Office of their District.
Individuals and non-registered groups that act as volunteers caring for many animals, can participate only through Local Government Authorities or registered animal welfare organizations. The list of Local Government Authorities and animal welfare organizations that will participate in the Plan will be posted on the website of the Veterinary Services.
The Veterinary Services also invite all registered veterinarians in the private sector to declare their interest in participating in the Pancyprian Stray Cat Neutering Scheme. Only registered veterinarians who have properly equipped veterinary clinics in terms of surgery and post-operative treatment of cats will participate in the Scheme. The aim is to distribute sterilisations evenly across all veterinary clinics, regardless of the number of vets working in them. Registered veterinarians who do not have clinics must declare the clinic where they will perform sterilizations and submit with their interest the relevant use/cooperation agreement with the specific clinic.
In this context, all interested veterinarians are invited to declare their intention to participate in the Scheme by 31 May 2023 to the Veterinary Office of the District where they operate, by submitting signed originals of all required documents.
All relevant documents can be retrieved from the website of the Veterinary Services.
