From tomorrow Friday - after the publication of the decree in the Official Gazette of the Republic - and as soon as businesses open, VAT will be zero on the following products:
- Bread: All types of bread are included, such as fresh or frozen, with or without sourdough (e.g. white, black, whole grain, multigrain, rustic, rye, corn cut, baguette, ciabata, sliced bread, loaves, pitta). The zero VAT rate will NOT include pastries, dried and any bread with additional ingredients, such as raisins, nuts, herbs.
- Milk: This includes fresh milk (e.g. cow, goat, mutton), sweetened, concentrated, long-lasting, flavoured milk (e.g. chocolate, banana), vegetable milk (e.g. almond, soy, rice).
- Eggs
- Baby food: Applies to all powdered foods, dry or wet, intended for consumption by children. Snacks (e.g. chips, nuts, candies, chocolates, ice cream) are not included.
- Baby diapers
- Products for feminine hygiene protection (tampons, sanitary napkins and incontinence pads)
- Adult diapers
It should be noted that, especially for baby diapers and adult diapers, the price difference will be noticeable, as it will be reduced by 1/5. This is because these products are currently subject to 19% VAT.
A competent source told "F" that receipts from cash registers will indicate the products that will be subject to zero VAT. Essentially, as we have been told, it will be added to the other two categories of VAT, 5% and 19%.
