CRIME ROUND UP

On 21/05/23 at 17:00 about 1000 AEL fans on motorcycles and vehicles started in groups from the parking area of Enaerios and after passing through various streets of the city of Limassol ended up at the auxiliary football stadiums of AEL next to the Tsirio Stadium where they dispersed peacefully. The march was discreetly monitored by members of Group Z Limassol.

During their journey, they also passed through Makarios III Avenue and caused damage of unknown value at this stage to seven (7) photo-labelling systems installed at the intersections of the Avenue. Makarios III with Agia Zoni Street and Despina and Nikos Pattichi Street.

Members of the ICF of Limassol went to the points where they conducted on-site examinations and the damages were photographed. The movements of the perpetrators were recorded by CCTV installed at the intersections. Examinations to identify the perpetrators are ongoing.

More than 1300 ecstasy pills were found by police in an apartment for foreigners in Paphos during a search on Sunday night. Two people were arrested and a third is being sought in connection with the case.

They are a 46-year-old woman and a 37-year-old man, both of African descent, who were at the house during the operation.

Now, a case of possession of drugs, possession of drugs for the purpose of supply and illegal stay in the territory of the Republic of Cyprus is being examined against them.

The search found a quantity of methamphetamine weighing two grams, as well as 1,388 tablets of ecstasy, weighing a total of approximately 688 grams.

Further examinations revealed that the 37-year-old was staying illegally in the territory of the Republic of Cyprus. The Police are looking for a third person, who allegedly lived in the said premises with the arrested woman.

Members of the Nicosia Police arrested a 29-year-old man in connection with an ongoing case of residential burglary and theft of property. The 29-year-old suspect was taken into custody for police questioning.

According to the evidence under investigation, the burglary was committed on April 28, at noon, in an apartment building in the Agioi Omologites area, in Nicosia. According to the tenant's complaint, gold, clothing, and appliances were stolen from her apartment, with a total value of  €76,851.

As part of the investigation of the case, members of the Burglary Unit of the ICF of Nicosia carried out yesterday an operation to check suspicious persons in the area of the burglary. At around 7:00 pm, they spotted the 29-year-old moving suspiciously on foot in the area and checked him. In a subsequent search of the 29-year-old's car, police found a mobile phone, which was then identified as part of property stolen during the burglary under investigation.

After the 29-year-old suspect did not give satisfactory explanations for the possession of the mobile phone, the members of the Police proceeded to arrest him for the flagrant offense of illegal possession of property, while after it was established that the 29-year-old, a third-country national, is illegally in Cyprus, they proceeded to arrest him for the offense of illegal stay in the territory of the Republic.
