In the context of collecting and evaluating data, members of the YKAN (Famagusta Unit) spotted yesterday afternoon a 38-year-old man, in a parking lot in Ayia Napa, placing various objects in some places on the ground, while at another point he was seen picking up something from the ground.
The members of the YKAN intercepted the person in question and during the body search that followed, he was found in possession of two nylon packages containing a total of 2 grams of cannabis and he was arrested for a flagrant offence.
The area where the arrested person was seen placing objects on the ground was then searched and a nylon bag containing 8 nylon packages of cannabis plant matter, totalling 8 grams and seven nylon packages containing white powder believed to be cocaine, totalling 3.5 grams, was found.
A second nylon bag containing 23 nylon packages of cannabis plant matter weighing a total of 23 grams, eight nylon packages containing a total of 16 MDMA (ecstasy) pills, as well as 10 nylon packages containing a total of 5 grams of white powder believed to be cocaine were also found in the same area.
All of the above were received and kept as evidence, while the 38-year-old was detained.
The YKAN (Famagusta Unit) continues the examinations.

On the way to the church, in the area of Apostles Peter and Paul, in Limassol was the 73-year-old woman, who was robbed on Friday afternoon. The elderly woman ended up in hospital after being attacked by an unknown man who stole her bag.
According to police, the 73-year-old was walking on a street in the area when she was attacked by an unknown person who approached her. The assailant allegedly pushed her, causing the elderly woman to fall to the ground and then grabbed her bag and fled.
According to the complaint, the bag contained about €400 in money and her house keys.
The woman was taken by ambulance to Limassol hospital where she was detained for treatment as she has a traumatic head injury and a hip fracture.
Police are examining footage from cameras in the area in an effort to gather evidence that will lead them to the whereabouts of the perpetrator.
