Members of the YKAN (Limassol Unit) stopped yesterday afternoon for inspection, a 25-year-old man, who was moving on foot in the parking lot of the apartment building where he lives in Limassol.

During the body search that followed, he was found in possession of the sum of €800, and then a search was carried out in his apartment based on a court warrant, where the amount of €3,300 was found.

A court warrant also searched his car and found a nylon bag containing white powder resembling cocaine, weighing approximately 4 grams, three nylon packages containing cannabis weighing a total of 63 grams, a crusher with traces of cannabis and a precision scale with traces of white powder.

Inside the car was also found a sum of money amounting to €2,180, as well as another amount of money in banknotes of various countries.

The 25-year-old was arrested on a court warrant and taken into custody while being questioned and gave some allegations which are being investigated.

The YKAN (Limassol Unit) continues the examinations.

Prison sentences of seven and three months respectively for two different charges were imposed by the Pafos District Court against a 49-year-old female driver from Paphos. The two sentences relate to two different charges in relation to offences committed in December 2022.

The violations of the Highway Code concerned in the first case driving with a deprived driver's license, for which the Court imposed a seven-month prison sentence and in the second case driving under the influence of alcohol, an offense for which the 49-year-old was sentenced to three months in prison.

The Pafos District Court also took into account previous offences and violations of the Road Traffic Code concerning this driver.

A savage crime took place in the city of Limassol with a 35-year-old woman from Ukraine as the victim.

The details of the brutal murder are horrifying as the victim was found tied with plastic cable ties to her arms and neck while carrying a towel in her mouth. A 26-year-old man is wanted in the case.

Did the administrator detect it?

According to initial information from the police, around 00:50 in the morning on Sunday, the apartment manager in the area of Potamos Germasogeia found a 35-year-old woman from Ukraine unconscious inside her apartment. The woman in question was on the territory of the Republic of Cyprus under subsidiary protection status.

The victim was found bound with plastic cable ties and gagged, with a facial wound. Immediately the manager of the apartments informed the Police and members of the ICF Limassol rushed to the scene of the brutal murder. An ambulance arrived at the scene. Crew members examined the 35-year-old and found her dead.

It should be noted that the scene was cordoned off and visited by the Assistant Chief of Police, Yiannakis Georgiou, the officers of the Limassol Police Department, the Head of the ICF Limassol and members of the Criminal Investigation Service. An autopsy was conducted at the scene by forensic pathologists Angeliki Papetta and Orthodox Orthodox.

Martyrdom for the 35-year-old

On-the-spot examinations revealed that the victims hands were tied with a plastic cable binder. She also had a plastic binder and cloth around his neck. The 35-year-old was gagged with a towel in her mouth and had bruises on various parts of her body as well as a fractured nasal bone.

Police examinations revealed testimony against a 26-year-old Turkish man who is in Cyprus under the status of asylum seeker. The 26-year-old was issued with an arrest warrant and is wanted.

It should be noted that today at noon the autopsy on the body of the 35-year-old is expected to be carried out at Nicosia General Hospital by forensic pathologists Papetta and Orthodoxou.

The scene has been cordoned off until now, as tests are expected to be carried out.

Following an assessment of information received by EUROPOL, members of the Cybercrime Division of the Headquarters proceeded today on the basis of a court warrant to arrest one person.

This is a 29-year-old young man who was detained to facilitate interrogations.

The arrest of the 29-year-old was preceded by a search warrant at the home where he lives, following information that a certain owner/user of a social media platform account sent another user a video file with child sexual abuse material.

A mobile phone was found in the 29-year-old's possession, which was taken as evidence to be sent for scientific examinations.

The Cybercrime Division of the Headquarters continues the examinations.

The largest amount of money detected at the airports of the Republic being transported without being declared to the authorities was found today at Paphos airport. It was carried by a passenger who arrived on a flight from Vienna and was hidden in an inner area of the baggage he was carrying.

According to Customs, officers at Paphos airport carried out a check on the arrival of the specific flight in the passenger's baggage. Hidden in the baggage, the amount of  €400,000 was found, which the passenger failed to declare. He was arrested and detained, while the large amount of money was confiscated.

The case is being examined by the Department of Customs.
