A large-scale exercise for training in the organization, coordination and use of multiple aircraft in rescue operations as well as personnel transport is being carried out today by the Police and specifically the Air Operations Unit – MAEP.
As stated in a police announcement, during the exercise, flights with helicopter and other aircraft available to MAEP will take place at low altitude in areas in the districts of Larnaka, Limassol, Nicosia, as well as in the Troodos area.
Flights by helicopter and other means will take place around 10.30 in the morning, in Aglantzia, next to the Police Headquarters, in Strovolos and Lakatamia. Also, in Zygi and Governor's Beach as well as in the Sheraton Marina area, in the Limassol General Hospital area, in the Enaerios area in Limassol and in the Kykkos Monastery area.
The flights are part of the exercise and there is absolutely no cause for concern for the public.
The exercise is expected to end at 12.30 noon. The Air Operations Unit, the Port and Maritime Police, and the Mechanized Immediate Action Unit will participate.
In addition, the Fire Brigade, in the context of its training activities aimed at preparedness, conducts a leak and fire response exercise in a tanker vehicle transporting hazardous materials.
The scenario will include a bailout. The exercise will take place at the parking area, at the port of Latchi, Paphos District, at 10:00.
Therefore, it is noted that there will be mobilization of Fire Trucks and there is absolutely no reason for concern for the public.
