PRINCE ALBERT II IN CYPRUS

Prince Albert II of Monaco is among the distinguished guests of Cypriot tycoon John Christodoulou who will be present in the coming days in Cyprus, in view of the award ceremony of the "Love Cyprus" competition, which is organized by the Yianis Christodoulou Foundation charity.

The visit of Prince Albert II of Monaco to Cyprus is of a private nature. He will be welcomed as his personal friend by John Christodoulou, with a shot of zivania. At the airport there will also be two security vehicles on behalf of the Republic of Cyprus which will accompany him, while the Police are also aware of his schedule. Among other cultural sites, Mr. Christodoulou will guide the Prince to Lefkara, as it is a place with a rich history. On Sunday evening there will be a dinner at a well-known hotel in Limassol, where the President of the Republic of Cyprus Nikos Christodoulides will also be present. In fact, during this meeting prince Albert II will be awarded a prize for his contribution to the protection of the environment. At dinner they will be served a 50-year-old traditional Commandaria.

The 35 more guests of John Christodoulou, will have a brief acquaintance with our island. They will be guided beyond Lefkara, to Omodos, to Kourion, to the old town of Limassol. They will dine in fine restaurants, while they will also taste the Cypriot cuisine in traditional taverns. In addition, they will attend the award ceremony that will take place on Monday, April 3rd at Monte Caputo in Limassol for the pancyprian school competition "Love Cyprus". Among them were Christian Moore, director and son of the also famous actor Roger Moore, Anna Vissi, Marianna Latsis.

Regarding the award ceremony of the "Love Cyprus" competition, it was announced that due to the number of masterpieces submitted by the schools, as well as the massive participations, the Yianis Christodoulou Foundation decided to increase the winners from six schools to eight, with the total amount for the prizes climbing to €180,000 (from €170,000).

Almost 200 schools from all over Cyprus participated in the competition, which exceeded all expectations, with more than 600 projects. The judges with great difficulty singled out eight winners: Primary School of Argaka, Primary School of Athienou K.A', Primary School of Achna Forest "Fotis Pittas", Regional High School of Kokkinotrimithia  High School of Polis Chrysochous , High School of Agia Paraskevi Geroskipou , Lanitio Lyceum  and Technical School TESEK Famagusta-Avgorou .

The competition aimed to highlight Cypriot tradition and art, through a creative way, while the cash prizes will be given for the upgrading of schools. For his part, John Christodoulou, expressing his emotion for the large participation, noted: "It is proof of the strong willingness of our students to improve their school environment. It is proof of the genuine interest of teachers in a modern and attractive school for children. It is proof of parents' good anxiety about education. That is, the whole of Cypriot society". John Christodoulou is studying other actions, in collaboration with the state and other bodies, for further exploitation of the participations in the competition.

At the award ceremony, the jury for the eight finalists will consist of John Christodoulou, Anna Vissi, Marianna Latsis and Christian Moore. Konstantinos Argyros will be there to perform his hits.
